#4 : What Does Fame Look Like?

Styling to the theme “What Does Fame Look Like ?”

Contestants were asked to create a look to answer the question “What does fame look like ?”. It was suggested we can be lavished in diamonds and furs or sometimes just a satin sheet. They were asked to step out of their comfort zone to answer this question and incorporate more than two designers in their outfit and blog and include a style card.

Fame is being hated for succeeding and praised for failing. The love/hate relationship people have with fame is it’s never ending. They have to use you until you’re gone and when you are, they want more blood. It makes one wonder if moments of greatness are really worth all the trouble.

What Does Fame Look Like?
β€œCertain shades of limelight wreck a girl’s complexion.” Truman Capote, Breakfast at Tiffany’s
That quote fits what I feel fame looks like perfectly. I believe that fame is what you make it. Fame can be diamonds, limos, spotlights and the media following your every move. Fame can be sitting at home in your robe reading your favorite novel and spending time with those you love. Fame can be getting in legal trouble or it can be using your position to change the world for the better in some way. Fame can either enhance who you are as you make a positive impact on those around you, or can make you look like the worst human on the planet. But, no matter which side you are on there is a price to be paid for Fame in that there is a loss of privacy. Everything you do or say is exposed for all to see. Even trying to do something as normal as catching the sales at the mall can place you at the mercy of the camera. What will you do with that Fame is the question? Will you have a positive impact on the world, or will they remember you for all the negative publicity? I know what my choice is and hope that it shows in everything I do in my life.

What does fame look like ?
To me fame is basically being a public person, recognized by a vast crowd around a country, or in a larger scale, around the entire world.
Fame can come to any of us, either for doing things well or bad.
There are many famous people, covering different fields in which they stand out: sportmen, actors, singers, models, politicians, scientists, and the list can grow longer….
I am a common person in RL, I had a bit of a “fame” if you could call it that way, when I was formerly a model some years ago, I was well respected for doing my work in several towns around my country, I certainly could have continued in that path and become even more famous, but life has its twists and I had to step out to help a close friend of mine with her upcoming business project and when both of us started to gain our steady clientele, I had to make a choice: to pursue my modeling career or to forge my future for my upcoming years along with her in that business…. and I stayed with my friend πŸ™‚
Now in SL, I have the chance to be a model again, which makes me very happy because I continue very attached to fashion: I love glamour, class, elegance and colors!
I also love Hollywood’s Golden Age and that’s why I put together this look, trying to offer my very own interpretation of how fame looks like…
Hope you enjoy it! πŸ™‚

“The French are glad to die for love,
They delight in fighting duels,
But I prefer a man who lives and gives
Expensive jewels.

A kiss on the hand may be quite continental
But diamonds are a girl’s best friend
A kiss may be grand… but it won’t pay the rental on your humble flat
Or help you at the automat
Men grow cold as girls grow old
And we all lose our charms in the end
But square cut or pear shape these rocks don’t lose their shape
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend

… Tiffany’s!
… Cartier!
Black star Frost Gorham
Talk to me Harry Winston tell me all about it!
There may come a time when a lass needs a lawyer
But diamonds are a girl’s best friend
There may come a time when a hard boiled employer thinks you’re awful nice
But get that ice or else no dice
He’s your guy when stocks are high but beware when they start to descend
It’s then that those louses go back to their spouses
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend

I’ve heard of affairs that are strictly platonic
But diamonds are a girl’s best friend
And I think affairs that you must keep liaisonic are better bets
If little pets get big baguettes,
Time rolls on and youth is gone and you can’t straighten up when you bend
But stiff back or stiff knees you stand straight at… Tiffany’s…

Diamonds… diamonds… I don’t mean rhinestones… but diamonds… are a girls best… best friend”

“Fame is very big and very visual professional success. It is the key to the good side of life’s velvet ropes. For those who win it, society will grant them wealth, power, access, recognition and other tools to live an extraordinary life. ” ~Jay Jessup ~

I chose the power of wealth for this challenge. In todays society, money and power plays a very huge and demanding factor in a very high class lifestyle. This is how I visualized “FAME”.

My outfit skirt and bodice is made of money, a wealthy woman climbing up the stairs with great riches in a society of rich people. A woman who made it to the top and is now lavished in wealth and power. Money is no problem and as the writer of the statement above, Jay Jessup said, ” to live an EXTRODINARY LIFE”.

For our fourth challenge in Colour of Couture we were tasked to find out what fame meant to us and step out of our comfort zones.

Fame is the blueprint for having all of those things you want in your life, it is professional success enjoyed by society’s true elite. Fame converts hard work into success and comes in many sizes or labels (and is often mixed with celebrity status). One such example of fame could be the volunteers of UNICEF fixing donated bicycles for children in Kiribati: blog.unicef.org.nz/2013/04/12/hands-together-volunteering…
It is hard work, but it is rewarding and to those in that country you may exemplify what fame means to them.

For the fourth challenge at Colour of Couture, we had to style what we thought β€œFame” looked like. Fame to me is being satisfied and happy by doing something that brings me a feeling of accomplishment and meaning. It can be gone any moment or it can tear you apart. Growing up in a large Filipino family, my parents has always encouraged me to work hard and to never forget where I came from; education came first and foremost. I carry those same values into SL. When you work hard for the things you yearn for, everything will fall into place.

For my styling, I chose to wear the β€œChantelle” gown in black by GizzA and the Moon rose stockings and boa by Mea Culpa. This beautiful gown is red carpet ready and the eye catching jewelry from Lazuri is a sure fire way to make you stand out in any event. ”Fame” can come in many shapes and forms, poor or rich. What’s important is how you can use fame to benefit yourself and others in a positive way.

What does fame look like? Fame is being recognized anywhere you go. Sometimes with fame we must hide behind our sunglasses so not to be found out. With fame we gain recognition but also lose a little bit of our own privacy. As the saying goes “With fame there is a price to pay.”

What Does Fame Look Like:

Fame looks and feels different to everyone, but for me personally it is a label given to you by others and once you have it, your life is no longer your own. That is not always a bad thing “smiles” keep reading.

In my life I have had my own small taste of local fame. As the lead singer of a band, I can say that on stage you get a feeling like no other. Except maybe the fame found in little hearts.

Music was my life until something happened (Children) and sometimes you have to make a choice……………….It wasn’t music and my Kids still think I am famous.

It was a true journey to find what fame looks like for me, the hard work before and the aftermath and all it takes to keep the result you have been working so hard to achieve.
For me Fame the best expressed in a humble person, the type of person that don’t allow vanity take over the hard work they did and don’t forget how they started. the person that can easily turn her back on vanity and stay true to her humble self. that is the recipe to maintain the fame gained due to hard work and ambition.
