- Why have you entered Colour of Couture – Top Model Competition?
I learned about the Colour of Couture competition very early in my modeling career, well before I had even completed my first series of modeling classes. I was immediately intrigued by it as I knew I wished to portray myself as a model of color, being a Latina in real life and seeing a distinct minority of models of color on the grid. Since first learning of the competition I have not only completed one intermediate modeling course, but an advanced one as well, and have had a number of modeling experiences ranging from runway work to styling challenges that have further refined my skills as an SL model. I firmly believe there is always more to learn, in any scenario…RL or SL and I consider myself a life long learner, always seeking to educate and enhance myself so that I can be the best I can be.
- What particular qualities, personality & style should Miss Colour of Couture posess?
Miss Colour of Couture should be confident, intelligent, and aware of not only current events in RL and SL, but fashion trends. She should be genuine and approachable and not take herself too seriously. Her style should be her own, never looking to copy another, but learn from those around her in order to better express her sense of personal style.
- What are your thoughts and feelings about fashion in Second Life?
What is your role as a Woman of Colour in SL Fashion?
Fashion in SL is like fashion in RL…it is always evolving and changing as things become possible that were not possible before and as the visions of designers manifest themselves. As a Woman of Colour in SL fashion I see it as my job to explore and inspire, taking on the fashions and making them my own, bringing my own flair to them. I see it as my role to spread the word about creative and quality designers so that more may benefit from their artistic designs.
- How will you promote the Miss Colour of Couture competition as a finalist?
How will you promote the title of Miss CoC should you win?
Thus far I have been promoting the Miss Colour of Couture competition on my blog (which is syndicated on several feeds), Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, and Google+. Should I win the title, I will work very closely with the Colour of Couture organization to continue to promote the competition and organization in a positive way at all times. I will wear my title proudly and designate it clearly in my profile as well as in any correspondence. I will not act in a way that is contrary to the beliefs of the CoC organization. I will remain aware that should I win I am instantly a role model and public figure to many and will act accordingly. I will attend and promote any CoC events and activities. I will conduct myself with style, class, and professionalism at all times.
- What sort of impression would you like people to have of you if win the title?
What impression would you like to leave with them if you do not win?
I would like the impression people have of me to be the same regardless of the outcome of the competition. I would like people to know me to be genuine and honest, approachable and friendly, considerate and caring, intelligent and discerning, secure and confident. Win or lose I handle myself with grace and professionalism.
- What do you envision your activity in SL to be a year from now?
What goals and ambitions do you have?
I have been in SL for over 6 years. I have been a model for not even a full year. A year from now I still see myself as a model but with increasing skills and abilities. I am constantly working to improve my skills and learn new things. I have already begun to move into show and event production. I see myself working to keep SL modeling and fashion moving forward. Thinking creatively to give fashion lovers on the grid something new and exciting to enjoy. I am not in a hurry to leave the runway however. I see myself still working the catwalk and blogging, my photography improving, and the familiarity of my name spreading.
- Briefly summarize your professional career as a model in SL?
I began my modeling career when I began to work for AVENUE Magazine as a writer in July 2012. It wasn’t until May 2013 that I felt comfortable enough to apply for the AVENUE Models Academy and was thrilled to be accepted into an intermediate level course. I became an AVENUE certified model in July 2013. I have also completed an advanced level course with Opium as of February 2014. I am presently represented by Charltina’s, Vero Modero Elite Models, Opium Evolution, 5th Avenue Modeling Agency, Style Kingdom Magazine, SCALA Models, Novamoda Models, and The Fashion Teller House. I was a finalist in Liv Glam’s Glam Girls contest, Miss Vero Modero, and the Face of Romance Couture. I won the second public casting for Style Kingdom Magazine, and was recently invited to be a member of The Fashion Teller House.
- Do you have any additional comments you would wish to share?
I am deeply honored to be a part of the Colour of Couture competition and consider it a huge honor. I have enjoyed the entire process thus far and have been very impressed with how well run and organized CoC is, as well as with the caliber of the other candidates.
