Top Model Competition

2014 COC Finalist – Vera Fenutzini

  • Why have you entered Colour of Couture – Top Model Competition?
  • I entered Colour of Couture for several reasons one being that is one of the top modeling competitions in Second Life, and I love to be challenged. For me it is a form of growth, opportunity to learn, gain friendships, and possibly have a dream come true. Last year I watched as the CoC contestants competed in admiration. I have a passion for the fashion world both RL and SL. What CoC brings to the fashion community is a step above. I also admire that this competition focuses on women of Colour. Not just one race, but many African American, Asian, Mexican, and the list goes on. This is an amazing opportunity for any woman to be apart of, and for me it is a dream come true.

  • What particular qualities, personality & style should Miss Colour of Couture posess?
  • I feel it is important that winner have a good heart, be honest, confident as a teacher or student, and a friend to all. Her beauty should show not only on the outside, but her inner beauty should shine as brightly. She needs to be professional in all aspects of her reign including her rounded knowledge fashion, appearance, and way she presents herself in different scenarios.
To win is an honor, and this honor of representing a woman of colour is something that should be apparent in all she does. I feel she should be a philanthropist, and outgoing. Miss CoC is a huge responsibility and whomever takes the spot should be prepared for a year of hard work, fun, and over all satisfaction from the joys of her reign.

  • What are your thoughts and feelings about fashion in Second Life?

What is your role as a Woman of Colour in SL Fashion?

  • I love Second Life fashion for so many reasons. There are no limits as to what can be done, so we have so much yet to see. Also there are no limits on the methods of designing (you have no worries of gravity for example.) It opens so many opportunities for creativity and art. I also enjoy how one single design can be seen in so many spectrums, depending upon who is wearing it, how they style it and how they wear it in whole. It is so much fun to explore, blend, design, and create in Second Life Fashion and I can’t wait to see what is next!
My role as a woman of colour in SL Fashion, is another aspect itself. I have always been very proud of my heritage, and race. As I grew as a model, I was able to define my ethnicity even more. It makes me proud to promote and share various Asian designs and designers. I do a lot of research on the top Asian trends and try to keep current in my daily designs. I have been privileged to have some designs brought to “Second Life” by the genius designs of such greats as Enzo Champagne and Belle Roussel. I feel it is my role to continue to promote Asian designs, and show others that it does not matter your race or shape, to be a woman is to be proud, beautiful and creative.

  • How will you promote the Miss Colour of Couture competition as a finalist?

How will you promote the title of Miss CoC should you win?

  • I have enjoyed CoC thus far, and look forward to the continuation of the competition. I have promoted CoC in many ways such as Flickr, blogs, groups, my profile, and those I meet/know. It is such an honor to be apart of this prestigious contest and I do not hide my joy. If I were to win, I think I would continue the methods of promotion I have been doing, but I would also add in various events, charity events, and hopefully magazine and inworld opportunities to share the joy that is Colour of Courute.

  • What sort of impression would you like people to have of you if win the title?

What impression would you like to leave with them if you do not win?

  • If I were to win I would want others to feel the pride I would. Also I would like for them to feel that I was the best choice, and earned my position, not that it was something “given” to me. Furthermore, I want others to see me a friendly person, willing to help others, professional, and fully confident of fashion knowledge.
If I did not win, I think things would not be too different, except that I would not have the position as the winner. No matter what position I have the final day of CoC I want others to think positively of me, to have a smile upon their lips when my name is mentioned and to think of me as a friend. For others to compliment me with the title of friend, is a winning title in itself.

  • What do you envision your activity in SL to be a year from now?

What goals and ambitions do you have?

  • In a year, I have plans to promote two charities and have different events for each. I would like to be more involved with Miss Virtual World, as that was an amazing opportunity, and I would love the idea of teaching or helping others learn how to also achieve that phenomenal opportunity. I would love to learn more about designing, and building. I have created some designs, but it is my goal to ultimately open a clothing store. Who knows maybe in a year, I’ll also have someone special in my life!

  • Do you have any additional comments you would wish to share?
  • It is an honor to have been chosen as a finalist for CoC and I appreciate the opportunity to compete. I have grown as a model, learned, and gained friendships that will outlast any competition. Thank you to each person who works so very hard to make CoC a success and an opportunity for models like myself to participate in each year. Without you, and your dedication I know I would not have had this wonderful experience. I have tired, and will always continue to make the CoC competition proud it chose me as a finalist. I will always represent my title with honor and joy no matter if it remains finalist or if another dream comes true and I win Miss Colour of Couture. Thank you
